I worked for years in a nursing home and also doing home care.  I can't tell you how many times I've washed my hands because of it!  It doesn't take long for your hands to dry out and become chapped and sore.  That is one thing about working I don't miss.  I still wash my hands often, but sometimes I'm unable to and that's when I use hand sanitizer.  Now I have to say, I do NOT like typical hand sanitizers because they also dry out your hands and are messy.  I don't think it's a good thing to be rubbing alcohol into your skin all the time.
